Software Development Engineer - AWS Elastic Compute Cloud

Amazon.com is building a team of A+ software development engineers for the Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) team based in Seattle.  EC2 enables the global deployment and execution of thousands of applications across tens of thousands of Linux servers worldwide. We are actively recruiting software developers with passion for and experience in developing Internet-based services on a massive scale.

We are looking for a mix of the following:  

• Linux operating system development.
• Experience with hardware virtualization technologies is a plus.
• Programming in C, C++ and Java (Ruby is a plus).
• Internet and operating system security fundamentals.
• Expertise in delivering high-quality, innovative applications 5-10+ years of industry experience.
• BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent (PhD a plus).
• Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills.
• Experience building scalable, fault tolerant infrastructure software or distributed systems.
• Knowledge of system performance methodologies along with hands on empirical monitoring.
• Strong desire to build, sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals in a highly innovative and fast paced environment.
• Excellent written communication and verbal agility are strong assets.

Job Qualifications: Candidates will have strong computer science credentials (post-graduate degree preferred), be passionate about Internet technology, be very customer-centric and will have a track record of building quality services.
